Travel

Abroad

Here are some Young Living must-haves for any international trip; designed to strengthen your body from the inside out, to keep you healthy, and to help your body adjust to any time zone with boundless energy and quality sleep!

  • Thieves Wipes and Hand Sanitizer: Our bodies may have great natural immunity to things we are exposed to locally, but it can be more challenging to fight off icky germs that are completely new. Keep these wipes and the hand sanitizer in your bag at all times to keep you and your family protected! Hot tip: if you are carrying a water bottle while traveling, be sure to wipe off the lid frequently with a clean Thieves wipe! This is an area that gets a lot of germ exposure when traveling!

  • Essential Oil Roll-Ons: These conveniently packaged oils are my go-to when traveling internationally because they are easy to use and don’t require a carrier oil. Popular go-to’s for travel are Valor, Deep Relief, Thieves, and Tranquil. Valor is great for calming emotions during bumpy plane rides, Deep Relief to soothe achy muscles from cramped travel, Thieves on the feet daily to boost the immune system, and Tranquil to help wind down and get a great night's sleep!

  • Cardiogize: This supplement is great to travel with if you are headed somewhere tropical! If you will be subject to insects and bugs that could be bothersome, garlic can naturally deter them from wanting to take a bite of you! I suggest starting Cardiogize 2 weeks prior to travel for the best results.

  • Super B: A go-to supplement for energy, focus, and feeling great, this is a MUST for international travel. Not only can B vitamins work to improve focus, energy, mood, and hormones, they also make you less attractive to biting insects. As you travel abroad this supplement can help you adjust to time zone changes AND keep you more comfortable when outdoors!

  • ImmuPro: Travel abroad can often cause disturbances in sleep; from time zone changes to unfamiliar sleeping quarters, quality sleep is often a challenge. Immupro is infused with immune-supporting ingredients like zinc and Reishi mushrooms, in addition to melatonin to help you drift off to dreamland! Taking one tablet 30 minutes before bedtime can not only help you to fall asleep faster, it can help you stay asleep longer!

Beach

There’s nothing quite like being at the beach! The sound of the ocean waves and the abundant sunshine brings about total relaxation! Make sure you are ready to take on some major fun in the ocean and sun with these BEACH MUST-HAVES oils & products!

  • SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen - this non-nano zinc oxide based, essential-oil infused sunscreen is THE BEST. You won’t find a cleaner ingredient sunscreen than this one! SPF 50 means you can be protected from harmful UVB rays for 500 minutes, and 80 minutes swimming/sweating! Safe to use on kids of all ages.

  • LavaDerm After-Sun Spray - this spray-gel is a soothing after-sun care lotion that packs a powerful punch! It helps reduce the feeling of itching, burning, and discomfort and can also reduce the likelihood of peeling! It’s cooling with peppermint oil and contains Aloe Vera.

  • DiGize essential oil - beach trips automatically include lots of fish tacos, nachos, burgers, and junk food, right?? Traveling, the heat, and a change in your diet + lots of salt and pool water could leave your tummy feeling a bit upset. Don’t forget to pack your DiGize oil! This oil blend is so versatile for all kinds of digestive troubles that can pop up. It increases enzyme activity in the gut and is soothing and comforting for everything from nausea to tummy aches and everything in between. Simply rub a couple drops clockwise around the belly button anytime you need it!

  • Cool Azul Sports Gel - this bottle is loaded up with aloe vera and a full 10ml of cooling, soothing essential oils like Wintergreen, Peppermint, Sage, Lavender, Dorado Azul, Oregano, and more! It’s very soothing and feels AMAZING when you apply it to sun-exposed skin and sore muscles! Even better - keep it in the fridge so it’s cold when you apply it!

  • Charcoal Mask - you’ll want your best summer skin to shine through at the beach - plus this amazing mask doubles as an insect bite soother! Charcoal Mask is infused with volcanic clay and peppermint oil to invigorate and cleanse the skin. It pulls out impurities from the pores, giving you your best, most glowiest skin ever! If you get a bug bite - dab some charcoal mask on it and let it dry to help cut out the itch and redness!

  • Vitality Drops - you gotta stay hydrated at the beach!! One of my fave products from Young Living are their yummy flavored Vitality Drops! They combine hydrating electrolytes from the Great Salt Lake, some pure stevia for sweetness, and pure essential oils like Grapefruit-Bergamot, Lavender-Lemon, Tangerine-Spearmint, or Jade Lemon-Berry! Each of them are delicious ways to flavor and add hydration to your water!

  • Super B - did you know that vitamin B3 is critical in helping reduce the effects of UV exposure? Not only does Super B contain B3, but also all other B vitamins which are necessary for mood/emotions, sleep, hormones, immune support, cardiac support, and tons more! Make sure you take your Super B while you are at the beach so you can have the energy you need to enjoy the day!

  • Super C Chewables - traveling can often make us feel a little run down, and vitamin C is great for the immune system! It’s also amazing for the skin because it can help to neutralize free radicals created from UV exposure! Super C Chewables are so easy to travel with and pop like candy for the whole family to stay healthy and increase sun protection!

Mountains

MOUNTAIN TRAVEL MUST-HAVES:

  • Multigreens: MultiGreens is a nutritious chlorophyll formula designed to boost vitality by working with the glandular, nervous, and circulatory systems, and is known to help the body adjust to high altitudes. Did you know that chlorophyll is the pigment that absorbs sunlight during photosynthesis and converts it to energy? This plays a huge role in the health of a plant! This natural, sustainable energy source contains bioactive sea vegetables, nutrient-dense bee pollen, and a purifying blend of essential oils; it’s also a great source of choline. Multigreens is also infused with Melissa, Rosemary, Lemon, and Lemongrass essential oils, which have been proven to increase cellular absorption.

  • AromaEase: This oil is a blend of Peppermint, Spearmint, Ginger, Cardamom, and Fennel and is fantastic and offers support and relief for nausea associated with both motion and altitude issues. Apply to the wrists, behind the ears, and under the nose.

  • Peppermint: Peppermint is incredible for taming an upset tummy, and helping you to feel like you are able to take a deep cleansing breath. Apply to wrists, in the navel, and under the nose while traveling at higher altitudes.

  • Cedarwood: Cedarwood is beneficial at high altitudes for two reasons; first of all, it works with your brain to help you to relax and stay calm. Second, it stimulates the pineal gland of the brain, which releases melatonin. One of the side effects of higher altitude travel is difficulty sleeping, so you won’t want to climb any mountains without this oil in your arsenal!

  • Digize: Digize is the heavy hitter for all things digestion! Apply directly to the navel, take in a capsule, or (in a moment of desperation!) drop under the tongue for quick relief. This pairs perfectly with Peppermint and Aromaease to help tackle tummy issues due to altitude or motion sickness.

  • YL Vitality Drops: These delicious drops not only give your water a boost but they will give YOU one too! With trace minerals from the Great Salt Lake and electrolytes, these drops help you to stay hydrated no matter where your travel takes you!

Summer Camp

If someone in your family is headed to summer camp this year, then listen up! Here are a few things to add to your packing list that will help to make their week as a camper, or your week as a counselor, SO much easier!

Summer camp is a great opportunity for kids to practice some independence, and Young Living has some incredible tools that make caring for day-to-day issues a breeze!

Here are my summer camp must-haves:

  1. The KidScents Roll On Collection: If you have children, or if you don’t but love easy-to-use rollers that tackle everyday concerns, then this collection is one you NEED in your home. It contains six ready-to-use rollers that are labeled very clearly as to how to be used: SleepyIze, Geneyus, Tummygize, Snifflease, Owie, and Kid Power. Add this collection to your kiddo’s toiletries bag so they have oils at their fingertips for everything from bumps and scrapes to a tummy ache!

  2. Thieves Hand Sanitizer: Summer camp is full of fun - and lots of germs! I love that the Thieves hand sanitizer is easy to take on the go, full of great ingredients, and can be used to soothe a bug bite in a pinch!

  3. Desert Mist Diffuser and Lavender: You will be the camp counselor’s BFF when you send in a diffuser and oil combo that gives the entire cabin aromatherapy benefits! It can be hard for excited or homesick kids to settle down for the bedtime, and diffusing Lavender is a great way to help them drift off to sleep quickly!

  4. Insect Repellent Wipes: These wipes are SO convenient and easy to use! They are gentle, effective, and use plant powered ingredients to repel 99% of mosquitos, ticks, and fleas! Your kiddo doesn’t have to spend the week in the wilderness getting eaten alive (or covered in Deet); the insect repellent wipes will help them to have a great, bug free, week!

  5. Mightyzymes: While a week at camp can bring plenty of new adventures, it can also bring some tummy upset due to foods your child may not eat regularly, or consumption of foods that may be irritating to their digestive system. You can help them have a week free of tummy troubles with Mightyzymes; a chewable tablet eaten before meals that can help with fullness, pressure, bloating, a “full” feeling, gas, cramping, and minor pain that may occur after eating.

  6. MightyPro: This delicious probiotic is a great tool to send to camp with your kiddo to help boost immunity, support healthy digestion + regular bowel movements, and to encourage balanced emotions. So many bodily functions stem from a healthy gut, and giving them this supplement that contains both pre and probiotics is a great way to help those body functions run smoothly!

Packing Tips

If you’re anything like me - some of your oils go with you everywhere, even when traveling! I can’t imagine living life without my oils to help with all the unexpected things that come up!! They are small and easy to travel with, and they have been LIFE SAVERS so many times on trips - saving us from having to go spend money at a store or pharmacy to get supplies to support us!

Some FAQS about traveling with your oils:

  1. Can I pack my essential oils into my checked baggage? Yes you can! I would recommend putting your oils into a secure zippered pouch and make sure that all of the lids are on securely when you pack them this way. They don’t take up much room in a suitcase, which is great!

  2. Can I bring them in my carry-on bag if I’m not checking a bag? The safest/guaranteed way to get your oils onto an airplane with no issues is to include them in your quart-size zip-loc bag for liquids. However, many who travel frequently in Young Living have simply kept their oils in a zippered pouch in their carry-on bag and sent it through security with no problems! TSA is required to allow “necessities/medicines” through security separately from your liquids. You might have to have a conversation with your TSA agent explaining that your oils are your daily necessities/medications if they ask you. If you’d rather not take the risk, it’s your best bet to put your oils in your liquids bag!

  3. What oils should I bring when I travel? This is up to you and your needs where you are going! Check out our Summer Travel Tips series for some suggestions on recommended products for traveling. Your “everyday oils” from your Premium Starter Bundle are great ones to choose from! DiGize for tummy support, Lavender and Peace & Calming for sleep help, Valor for anxiousness on the airplane, Thieves for all the germs you encounter while traveling, and your Thieves Spray and Hand Sanitizer for disinfecting hands & surfaces!

  4. Can I travel with a diffuser? Absolutely! Packing a diffuser is a GREAT way to bring the comforts of home with you on your trip! It will also help to purify odors in hotel rooms, kill germs in the air, and help everyone get a good night’s sleep! I recommend bringing a light-weight diffuser like the Desert Mist that is easy to haul around and difficult to break!

BONUS - if you want a super convenient way to travel with your non-toxic Young Living toiletries, check out the Bon Voyage travel pack!! It comes with TSA-approved bottles of toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, floss, lip balm, and ART Moisturizer in a convenient zip-up bag!!
